We’re excited to announce the launch of Farm Adaptation Network (FAN), a nonprofit organisation committed to ensuring that farmers are at the heart of a just and sustainable agricultural transition across Europe.
FAN’s three co-founders, Silvére Dumazel, Kerri Waters, and Patricia Sundstrom, joined the K4G incubator with separate ideas, but soon found they were brought together by their shared vision: helping farmers adapt to the challenges of climate change while building a resilient, fair, and future-proof food system. Their mission is bold, urgent, and essential and we’re proud to have supported their journey from idea to impact.
A four-pillar approach
FAN’s approach is rooted in four strategic pillars: direct engagement with farmers, business development for sustainable enterprises, policy advocacy for equitable reforms, and research and knowledge sharing to inform action. Together, these strands are designed to drive systemic change from the ground up, ensuring farmers are equipped with the tools, training, and support they need to thrive in a rapidly shifting landscape.
The team’s work is already making waves. As its first major initiative, FAN is drafting a Strategic Blueprint for Farm Adaptation in Europe, which will map out pathways for transitioning to sustainable agriculture. This will be informed by collaborations with farmers, policymakers, and researchers, alongside country-specific programmes in France, Denmark, and the UK.
At Kickstarting For Good’s 2024 pitch day, the Farm Adaptation Network impressed the judging panel with its clarity of purpose, strategic insight and immediate relevance, earning our prestigious Judges’ Award in recognition of their outstanding potential for impact. Funding soon followed to launch the initiative with the three co-founders.
