Idea areas we are looking to explore

After consulting with hundreds of experts, leaders and funders in the food system, we have produced a list of the most promising idea areas that we would especially like to explore through the incubator programme.

You’re also welcome to apply with an idea that doesn’t fit in any of our listed idea areas, but we give preference to ideas that fall within the areas listed below.

We are always excited to explore ‘capacity-building’ and meta-support initiatives that aim to increase support for other organisations within our movement.

Application deadline: 31 May 2026

Key idea areas:

Influencing People with Power

Leverage key decision makers and thought leaders – including corporate leaders, policymakers, and those with strategic audiences – to advance plant-based diets and farmed animal advocacy.

Meta-Fundraising

Tap into or develop new, counterfactual funding sources and revenue streams (including potential for-profit models) to increase support for farmed animal and food system organisations.

Plant-Forward Policies

Advance policy initiatives to transform the food system, from shifting consumption patterns to creating a more favorable environment (e.g. plant-based action plans, R&D support for alt proteins, etc.)

Talent Acquisition

Expand the farmed animal, alt-protein, and plant-based advocacy talent pool through student outreach, advocate training, or innovative volunteer recruitment or activation strategies (e.g fellowships, etc.)

Expand High-Impact Programmes

Scale proven impactful programmes to new regions, countries, and audiences by providing the necessary resources and expertise to ensure that successful strategies are replicated.

Corporate Engagement

Influence retailers or food service companies to support alternative products and reduce animal-based production (e.g protein split commitments, choice architecture, plant-based defaults, etc.)

Support Existing Organisations

Amplify the impact of established organisations and events through strategic, value-added support (e.g. providing services or resources, fostering collaboration, mentorship programs, etc.)

Fostering Innovation

Build infrastructure to foster innovation, identify talent and cultivate strong ideas through concepts such as hackathons, incubation programmes.

Culinary Engagement

Engage chefs, culinary schools or gastronomic institutions to advance plant-forward cooking in professional settings (e.g. Vegucation, plant-based culinary training, etc.)

Artificial Intelligence

Develop practical applications of AI to enhance advocacy efforts and transform the global food system, both directly and by empowering advocates.

Event & Community Organising

Create collaborative hubs to bring together people solving complex food system challenges. These could include Hackathons, Conferences, Workations, Co-working Spaces, Ecovillages, etc.

Media Engagement

Reshape the public narrative around plant forward food systems by supporting podcasts, content creators, journalists and media professionals (e.g. a PR agency, social media agency, or podcast support org).

Volunteer Engagement

Activate and engage various kinds of volunteer support to bring in more knowledge and capacity in the movement. (e.g. mentor-matching platform, grassroots support org, etc.)
