Liz Flynn, VARC
Animal advocacy advances through diverse strategies: corporate campaigning, policy and legal work, plant-based innovation, diet change, and shifting public opinion. Each is vital, but too often they remain disconnected. To accelerate change, we need to see them as part of a broader ecology.
Drawing on the case of the Vegan & Animal Rights Conference (VARC) in the UK, Liz will share how creating infrastructure – spaces for convening, leadership development, and cross-strategy dialogue – has sparked new collaborations, initiatives, and changed perspectives within the UK movement.
Got an idea you want to share for the first time to see how people react? Or got an idea that you don’t have time to implement and want to invite others to steal? Sign up to our new Swipe My Idea app to submit your idea and vote on others.
Closing reception including refreshments, drinks and networking.
Join Alexa Gnauck for a one hour workshop to learn how to edit Wikipedia to help the movement. No experience or tech skills needed!
In one intensive day, hybrid teams – including online groups from all over the world joining via Discord – will develop working AI-powered solutions to accelerate plant-based food system transition. We’re not building concepts or presentations – we’re building functional prototypes that plant-based organisations can actually deploy to shift public opinion, support dietary change, and scale movement impact.
Final demonstrations of the tools, applications and working demos that have been created in the day.
Kickstarting For Good is the world’s only incubator that accelerates nonprofits that are moving the world towards plant-based food systems – for the climate, for public health, for food security, for animal welfare and for social justice.
The K4G Summit is where you can contribute to the big ideas shaping the space and cross-pollinate with other leaders in the movement. The event begins with our Kickstarting For Good graduates pitch day on Friday afternoon, and then continues with a day of ideas and workshops on Saturday, and the Code for Compassion AI hackathon on Sunday.
The K4G summit is an invite-only event and we expect around 100 participants. Our alumni, mentors, funders and selected former application finalists are all invited to attend and to also submit an application to hold a workshop, roundtable, hackathon, lightning talk or pitch.
Other potential funders, experts and journalists can also apply to attend.
The Summit is held in Berlin, Germany at the ProVeg Incubator, starting at 2pm on Friday 14 November with our cohort pitch and graduation day, and finishing on Sunday 16 November with our AI Hackathon, hosted by K4G graduates Electric Sheep and Open Paws.
You can for the whole summit or any of the three days individually. You are also welcome to schedule your own meetings with others who will be at the summit, using our breakout rooms and meeting spaces.
If you are a movement donor, involved in our K4G mentor network, a programme alumni or a previous application finalist, then as well as attending, you can apply to join the summit in a number of ways:
5 minutes: Give an update on your initiative or an idea you are developing for the movement.
30 minutes: Share your expertise on an important topic for the movement.
60 minutes: Aim to solve a problem or go deep into a topic with a roomful of movement experts.
2-3 minutes: Got a cool idea you want to share for the first time to see how people react? Or had a crazy idea that might just work? Apply to join our fast-paced idea slam to test it out!
Full day: Sign up to join a team for our day-long AI hackathon ‘Code 4 Compassion’ to develop an AI-powered solution to one of the problems facing our movement. There will be a separate application form if you want to apply to take part in the hackathon to develop an idea.
