Operations & Automation Associate, Kickstarting For Good

Role Summary

We’re building Kickstarting For Good into a scalable, AI-first incubator for the people transforming the food system, and we’re looking for someone who treats every recurring task as a puzzle worth redesigning.

This is not a “keep the lights on” operations role. It’s an operations role for someone who reads a checklist and immediately asks: “How could a participant own this? Could an AI handle the first draft? Could we delete this step entirely?”

You’ll do the practical work – setting up our Berlin incubator space for in-person weeks, running breakfast logistics, tracking documents, supporting our cohort – and you’ll continuously re-imagine how that work gets done.

You’ll work closely with our Executive Director and our Head of Systems / CTO. You won’t be alone figuring out tools or language, but you will own execution.

Job Details

Location: Berlin (or within easy commuting distance). Some hybrid flexibility once you’re in role, but you’ll need to be on-site for incubation weeks and team rhythms.
Hours: Full-time preferred. Open to a strong candidate at 80% FTE.
Start date: ASAP
Application deadline: Open until filled
Salary: €35-55k dependent on skills and experience

Apply now

Next steps:

  • Screening through a short online application
  • Online trial task (~1-2h): a real K4G problem to solve
  • Online aptitude assessment
  • Final team interview (~1h)

What you'll actually do

  • Run the practical operations of in-person incubation weeks in Berlin: space setup, catering, logistics, cohort support – including the un-glamorous parts.
  • For every recurring task you take on, design the second iteration. Build the checklist, the template, the AI workflow, or the participant-owned process that means future-you (or a participant, or a tool) handles it with less work next time.
  • Experiment with AI tools (Claude, Notion AI, and whatever comes next) to automate, draft, summarise, and accelerate our work. We expect trial-and-error. We don’t expect every experiment to succeed.
  • Take ownership of our incubator space at Genthiner Straße: make it a place people want to come to, work in, and run programmes from.
  • Coordinate cohort logistics: travel, accommodation, stipends, documentation.
  • Identify where participant ownership of logistics could be a learning opportunity for them (not just a labour transfer for us), and propose how to make it work.
  • Be the connection between K4G and our parent organisation ProVeg’s operational teams when needed.

What we care about most

  • A curious, restless attitude. You see a task done the same way twice and you start asking why. This matters more to us than any specific skill.
  • Sharp, fast communication. Written and verbal, in English. You can summarise, ask clearly, push back politely, and keep a team in the loop without being asked.
  • Comfort with ambiguity. We’re a small organisation rebuilding ourselves into a more scalable one. Some weeks will not have a clear playbook. You’re okay with that.
  • Genuine interest in AI tools and willingness to learn at high speed. We don’t expect you to arrive fluent in a specific stack. Tools change too fast for that to matter. We expect you to learn what you need within weeks and not be afraid of breaking things.
  • Hands-on willingness. The breakfast still has to happen on day one, even before any automation exists.
  • Alignment with our mission to move the food system toward a healthier, more sustainable, plant-forward future.

What's also helpful

  • Previous experience in operations, events, hospitality, or coordination roles.
  • Familiarity with Notion, Slack, Google Workspace, or similar tools.
  • Conversational German (useful for local suppliers and venues).
  • A history of having built or tinkered with something on your own – a side project, a process you redesigned, a side hustle, a community group you ran.
  • Interest in nonprofits, startups, or food-system change.
  • Knowledge or experience of EA (Effective Altruism)
  • Recent graduates with a demonstrable track record of building or improving things are very welcome to apply.

About us

The Kickstarting For Good incubator is an 18-week programme, combining virtual (online) phases with two in-person weeks in Berlin, Germany.
During the programme, participants learn the skills, theory and mindset needed to create a high-impact initiative, guided by high-caliber mentors and programme advisors, culminating in a final pitch day at our incubator space in Berlin.

In 2025, we incubated 18 initiatives who are working to change the food system to a plant-forward future and awarded more than $200,000 in grants and seed funding. Collectively, the initiatives that we have helped kickstart have raised $10 million in philanthropic funding since 2022.

K4G is an initiative of ProVeg International. ProVeg is a food awareness organisation working to transform the global food system by replacing 50% of animal products globally with plant-based and cultivated foods by 2040. ProVeg engages with all relevant stakeholders to create a food system where everyone chooses delicious and healthy food that is good for all humans, animals, and our planet. ProVeg has received the United Nations’ Momentum for Change Award and works closely with key UN food and environment agencies. ProVeg creates global impact, with offices in 14 countries across five continents and more than 220 employees.
